Community Growth CIC

We are Community Growth CIC and our approach has been developed working in community & educational settings & residential recovery units for adults and young people with mental ill-health.

Informed by theories such as the ‘Biophillia Effect’ and ‘Attention Restoration Theory’ we believe that the simple act of stepping outside can have a positive impact on a person’s well-being. This is something that has been evidenced over and over through our projects and why we encourage being outdoors in green spaces as much as possible. Projects are developed through co-production with all parties.

Our approach is simple. We are person-centered – we treat people; respectfully, holistically, as individuals, and most importantly as equals. We slowly build relationships and trust and gradually empower people to believe in themselves again. Our approach is informal with the individual at the centre and in control of their own journey.

We make the projects appealing and create an environment where people want to be. We do this by listening carefully to their wants and desires and responding to these promptly and positively.

The Growth Approach has also been informed and refined through on-going training and consultation with CLADAC (Child Learning and Development Advisory Centre).

“CLADAC train creative practitioners and people working in the arts and health field to understand the neuroscience behind their work so that they can implement very effective interventions with their clients.

They work with the brain and nervous system and the results show flow, coherence and impact. They also teach people how to monitor the impact of their creative interventions”.

We believe that real change comes from the grass roots and that together as a community we have the ability to transform our future and the future of our area.

We have big dreams here at Community Growth! We aim to provide a place where everyone has a valuable role to play. A place to find support, things to do, learning and training opportunities, enterprise and micro-businesses.
